Minafon Studio

 Elaine Graham

Born in Vancouver, Elaine starting painting at the age of nine, inspired by the elemental grandeur of British Columbia. With a Fine Arts degree from the University of Toronto, she won numerous graduate distinctions before emigrating to the UK and in 2003 set up a studio near Lampeter in rural West Wales, drawn by the magic and mystery of the Welsh landscape. She is a member of the King Street Gallery cooperative in Carmarthen, exhibits in galleries across Wales including an annual solo show in Aberglasney Gardens.
" I am fascinated by the  rivers, mountain lakes, woodland valleys, castle ruins and wild seas of Wales. I ponder as I roam who has walked these paths before me. Typically I sketch what has caught me then work them up large -sometimes very large - in my study, typically with acrylic paint on canvas or board.  My style is expressive with sweeping brushstrokes aimed at capturing the wild, whipsaw movement of the elements across land and sea. I use bold colour to lift the spirit and to celebrate the passion and theatre of nature."
